Sitecore Developer
Purpose of Role
To be a key member of the Sitecore Engineering team to develop, support and maintain Sitecore centric technology solutions for our clients, partners and internal technical solutions/product owners.
Key Accountabilities
- Designing, developing, and maintaining Sitecore based solutions - predominantly Sitecore XP and Sitecore XM Cloud
- Implementing Sitecore (and associated technologies) software solutions for client focused digital/web projects
- Collaborating effectively with QA, BA, DevOps and other members of the wider Engineering and agency teams
- Accountable for the timely and technical quality delivery on Sitecore related elements/phases for software development projects
- Proactively driving the technical definition of software delivery project planning (scope, time estimates, technical skills)
- Ensuring technical implementation and delivery processes (i.e. Unit testing, Source control, Coding Standards, Deployments) and technical documentation are followed, improved and continuously evolved
- Ensure that the technical objectives of the Sitecore Engineering team are met - ensuring that our reputation for Sitecore technical excellence is maintained and excelled
Key Responsibilities
- Analysing requirements and determining technical solution scope/direction
- Researching and proposing cost effective technical solutions to address agency challenges such as improvement of development, processes and governance standards.
- Collaborate with other developers, project managers, business analysts, account managers and clients in conceptualising, estimating and developing new software solutions and enhancements
- Supporting the Technical Team Lead and/or Head of Sitecore Engineering in technically delivering solutions
- Delivering exceptional quality technical solutions that fulfil the need of the client
- To support the Sitecore Engineering team (as and when needed) in assessing training needs, organising and implementing training to continually develop the team’s skill set and development.
- To research new and emerging technologies (specifically in the Sitecore ecosystem) and advise the Head of Sitecore Engineering on technology developments.
- A demonstrable understanding of the cost and consequence of technical implementation from both a technology and architectural design perspective
- Good level of understanding of the general architectural landscapes and the evolvement of the Sitecore platform and associated ecosystem (composable marketing technology)
- Ensuring the junior members of the team are understanding Agile methodology (Scrum) that is applied within the agency from a engineering perspective
- To accurately record all hours worked against the appropriate client and report any work requests to the relevant Project Lead and/or Project Manager
- Work directly with our client teams (technical and non-technical) by creating partnerships and unified ways of working for project success.
Skills and Competencies
- Good Sitecore Experience Platform development expertise – (XP v9/v10+)
- Sitecore XM Cloud highly beneficial
- Sitecore Developer Certified (v10)
- Other recent Sitecore solution certifications highly beneficial
- Good knowledge of .NET coding and Sitecore architectural patterns (i.e. Helix) and coding approaches
- Good commercial expertise in the following: o .NET, C#, .NET core & general Microsoft technology development stack o Source control (i.e. Git/Bitbucket)
- Database Technologies: SQL Server, Azure SQL
- JSON and scripting languages (e.g. PowerShell)
- JavaScript – Ideally library/frameworks (i.e.ReactJS/NextJS or similar)
- Azure Cloud Services (i.e. Web Apps, Logic Apps, API Mgmt)
- CI/CD tooling – Azure DevOps
- Vercel/Netlify experience highly beneficial
- An avid problem solver with a curious technical nature
- A collaborative worker and keen to work with a diversely skilled team
- Ability to communicate technology solutions to non-technical external stakeholder and parties
Previous Experience and Skills
- Experience of developing large scale Sitecore solutions (v9+) – Ideally with use of JSS, SXA and headless architectures
- Understanding of the full software development life cycle – Ideally Agile/Scrum
- Experience of developing web services within cloud platform environments (Azure preferred)
- Experience in working across multiple streams of work (projects) concurrently – involving several clients.
